Mantas Ezcaray is the successor to and heir of Cecilio Valgañón, who, around 1930, shifted from producing cloth on his handlooms to manufacturing handkerchiefs, scarves, shawls and blankets. The processes make use of the finest natural fibres that nature provides, which skilled and expert hands transform.

Ezcaray is a municipality in La Rioja (Spain). It is situated in the south-west of the region, in the La Rioja Alta district, and more specifically in the Upper Oja Valley. It has a population of 2,069.

Surrounded by mountains, forests and abundant water, it has been a leading centre of the textile industry for centuries.
The resources of its surroundings have underpinned its economic development for hundreds of years.
Its tourism sector focuses on rural tourism, drawing visitors with the natural surroundings in which it is set, as well as winter sports, thanks to the nearby Valdezcaray ski resort.

The incorporation of mohair into his designs in 1950 has shaped his career right up to the present day. From 1970 onwards, the founder’s children began to become more involved, leading to growth and expansion.

The company has now begun to bring on board the new generation, who have arrived full of enthusiasm and a desire to do their utmost to ensure the company’s continued success for many years to come.
